Ozzy Osbourne has been jailed for life for murder. But this isn't, of course, the man we all know and love. In actuality, this is Gary Bacon, a 42-year-old from Derby who changed his name by deed poll to 'Ozzy Osbourne' a few years ago. Now, he's behind bars for stabbing Gary Hunt to death in North London.

Benjy says...
Hail all rock fans,
Despite some tech problems on Thursday's show we managed to pump out another 4 hours of new and classic rock music .... how was that Mahogany Rush special! Frank Marino is truly a gifted guitarist who continues to amaze and inspire all lovers of the 'six string razor' .... Speaking of which the subject of next week's special will be the legendary Irish blues rocker, Rory Gallagher.
Gallagher's emergence as one of the most influential guitarists in rock music began in the late 60's with the band, Taste. After a brace of storming blues drenched rock albums, including the astounding "Taste Live" he felt uncomfortable with the 'rock star' tag being forced on him and folded the band. Putting together a brand new outfit with emphasis on his true love, the blues, Rory began a successful solo career that lasted until his untimely death in 1995. During his solo career he released 18 albums. For more information on Rory Gallagher check out the official website at
www.rorygallagher.com ..... in the meantime join me next Thursday for 45 minutes of pure Rory, drawn mainly from his early 70's output.
Rock of Ages's recommendations
One band that I have been championing for years and who, in my opinion, are one of the best groups of the last 20 years is Canadian rockers, The Tea Party. I came across them by chance in 1995 on a holiday in Australia, I picked up the album "Transmission" and was immediately blown away by the power and majesty of guitarist/singer Jeff Martin's words and music. They remind me of the mighty Led Zep, around the 'Kashmir' era, fusing hard rock riffs with Middle Eastern melodies and acoustic folk. Their new album "Seven Circles" does not disappoint with powerful tracks like "Writing's on the wall" and "Coming back again". What makes The Tea Party different from most of the so-called 'rawk' bands on offer is that they continaually revise and update their sound, making each album different from the previous. For an introduction to them check out "Transmission"; "Splendor Solis" and a best of, "Tangents" ......
On one of my regular visits to Richard Filmer @ CDW, The Waterfront he turned me on to a new band called Clutch. As you can imagine I am continually listening out for new music to play on the show and it is a rare day when something really blows me away on first listen .... but this band's new album "Robot Hive/Exodus" did just that! Think classic rock riffs ala early Aerosmith, Zep, Sabs fused with swinging Hammond organ and one of the most poetically gifted vocalists in modern rock and you are a step closer ... highly recommended folks.
