Mel Botes is a composer, an artist and a poet. He is also an incredibly talented musician. His exceptional abilities as a guitarist and vocalist leave no doubt in the discerning music lover's mind that here is a man comparable with the best in the world. Admittedly, this is a bold statement, considering the stereotyped perception of home grown South African artists. The difference is simply that Mel Botes is, well, different. His individual signature is indelibly etched into his every effort.
Mel's approach shows incredible insight and passion. His music is unique and refreshing, pure and exhilarating. It is like a vast ocean, at times gripped in the energy of a raging storm, only to return to calm, peaceful tranquility. Or an exquisite painting with its many nuances, rare, delicate and complex, inspired by a deep well of raw, intense emotion. Mel Botes is a man who always delivers.
