Duane Eddy
Moore, Loudermilk and Eddy
Introduction
Have Twangy Guitar Will Travel entered the Billboard album charts in January 1959, and stayed there for 82 weeks, peaking at #5. This legendary album produced no less than 5 singles and is generally regarded as one of the greatest rock 'n' roll albums of all time! Eddy's unique guitar sound also inspired the Flames to record the instrumental Dixie, their maiden single for Rave in 1963.
Duane Eddy toured South Africa in December 1963 with John D Loudermilk and local female artist, Maureen Moore.
Eddy's guitarist, Al Casey, remained in South Africa after the tour and recorded two instrumental tracks for the RCA album Teen Beat Party. The album also featured tracks by Maureen Moore.
The touring party performed at the following venues:
2 December - Town Hall, Benoni
3 December - City Hall, Pretoria
4 December - City Hall, Klerksdorp
